MadeMan.com (“wit. wisdom. women.”) includes Lou’s in its list of Ten Best First Date Restaurants in San Francisco. That may be in part because of the house specialty: 60-ounce Margaritas served in the biggest stemware you’ve ever seen.
The atmosphere and people-watching are great, too, with a mix of locals and tourists. Cuisine leans toward Jambalaya, hush puppies, and Cajun cookin’. There’s an outdoor patio and a kids’ menu.
Lou’s is small and usually packed, which may be why it’s not known for fast service. But the blues bands are generally very good; the Blues Club calendar is here.
Can’t wait? Enjoy the blues without the bus ride. Jesse Fuller’s one-man band performances are legendary in blues music. Although he is famed for his San Francisco Bay Blues, his other musical makings make this CD extremely worthy to any blues lover.
